Thank You!
Title:  Thank You!
Description:  As the CPKC Shakopee job was preparing to enter Valley Park Yard early on a Saturday evening, the conductor (the gent in the hi-viz vest at left) saw me as he was standing in the road after lining the switch off the main, noticed I was a railfan, and tapped his ears to warn me the air horns were about to sound. Thank you! You are a kind railroader, sir, and a credit to your company.

Silent Rails In A Quiet Valley
Title:  Silent Rails In A Quiet Valley
Description:  The old Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern main line north of I-35 in Lakeville is currently silent rails in a quiet valley. May trains make this valley thunder again one day!

Always Photo-Worthy
Title:  Always Photo-Worthy
Description:  Well, let's face it, Progressive Rail HQ is always photo-worthy, even on a cloudy April afternoon.

"Wait. That's New."
Title:  "Wait. That's New."
Description:  At first I hadn't planned on taking pictures of Progressive Rail's Lakeville headquarters after finding no locomotives down by it late on a Saturday afternoon, but as I was driving out, I saw the sign warning about remote controlled locomotives you see here. "Wait. That's new," I said aloud to myself, so I turned around, came back, and got this shot. PGR is using remove engines now at Airlake?

"They'll Tag Anything These Days"
Title:  "They'll Tag Anything These Days"
Description:  "They'll tag anything these days," I dryly noted aloud as I snapped this photo of a tagged Progressive Rail "No Trespassing" sign and graffiti-adorned covered hoppers in the background. WWUX 1062 has quite a profane protest message on it now, hence why I had to block it out before posting this shot.

With A Friendly Greeting
Title:  With A Friendly Greeting
Description:  Shortly after noon on a mild, cloudy Sunday afternoon, the eastbound "Borealis" charges across Old Man River at Hastings. The engineer greeted me and my friend Andy with several short blasts on the air horn. Thanks, whoever you were! :-)

My Last Look At A Bandit
Title:  My Last Look At A Bandit
Description:  Back in the late 1990s, when I finally got out of my armchair and into serious railfanning (i.e., no longer just reading train books and magazines and watching movies), Soo Line "bandit" units, ex-Milwaukee Road units hastily patched to reflect their new owner, could still be found aplenty. Alas, they are about to vanish with the scrapping of Soo Line 2010. A unit doomed to such a ignominous end by wiring issues and just plain high mileage. This shot of 2010 is thus my last look at a bandit, because as I write this, she's in the scrap line at Pig's Eye awaiting her fate.

Snappy Back End
Title:  Snappy Back End
Description:  The back end of 9375's long hood sure looks snappy in black paint.

From The Sunny Side
Title:  From The Sunny Side
Description:  A sunny side closeup shot of the CPKC logo. I admit I could get used to this image, my friends, because it's a classy reworking of the legendary Canadian Pacific "beaver" emblem.

New Lettering And Revamped Logo
Title:  New Lettering And Revamped Logo
Description:  Sorry about the sun glare. My sunglasses obscured the fact I needed to dim my camera's setting! Oh well, still came out okay.

Sunny Side View
Title:  Sunny Side View
Description:  A sunny side view of the CPKC logo and lettering on the 9375. Note the "CP" sub-lettering beneath the cab. "CPKC" is not yet a reporting mark, so the repainted units are going to be sub-lettered for their home roads until then.

First Shot of My Visit
Title:  First Shot of My Visit
Description:  The first thing I did when I reached Union Depot on Train Days 2024 was snap this shot of CPKC (CP sub-lettered) 9375. I must admit the new look sure is snappy.

Parked For The Weekend
Title:  Parked For The Weekend
Description:  Progressive Rail's latest ILSX duo, 1301 and 1402, sit parked for the weekend south of Lone Oak Road in Eagan beneath rapidly clouding skies. I'm not sure if the two hoppers and boxcars were loads waiting to go out, or were awaiting loading come the work week.

Another New Kid On The Old Milwaukee
Title:  Another New Kid On The Old Milwaukee
Description:  Another new face on the Eagandale Line is this former Soo Line GP38-2 now given a new lease on life thanks to ILSX. Glad to see at least one of these babies is still running! She and stablemate 1402 were enjoying a Saturday off south of Lone Oak Road in Eagan when I found them.

A New Kid On The Old Milwaukee
Title:  A New Kid On The Old Milwaukee
Description:  Progressive Rail now alternates switchers with road power on its Eagandale Line. Here's the first new kid on the old Milwaukee, the 1402. She's clad in PGR paint and adorned with diamond logos, but has ILSX sub-lettering.

Waiting To Roll
Title:  Waiting To Roll
Description:  The crew aboard a westbound ethanol (?) train waiting at Highway 100 on the Paynesville Subdivision waits to roll on a lovely evening on the last day of June, 2024. I foresee snappy new CPKC paint (with CP sublettering) is in the 8024's future.

Units Active And Stored
Title:  Units Active And Stored
Description:  A glimpse from Transfer Road (via zoom shot) reveals units stored in the north side of the Commercial's yard. The paint on the second of these units here indicates a new arrival, the 45, which is an operable unit. Not sure what the 200's status is, but the 35, alas, is stored facing an uncertain future last I heard.
