CP 2246 leads a Holiday Train as it has done every year since 2014 |
Description: |
Prior to that year, the Holiday Trains had been hauled exclusively by AC4400CWs since their inauguration in 1999. In 2014 and '16, 2249 hauled the US train while 2246 was assigned to Canada's train. This is also the first year I've caught it when the sun has been out for its daytime run through south-central Wisconsin, which brings out the clean red paint but dampens the colorful animated Christmas lights. |

Another eastbound manifest delayed by the Holiday Train gets underway from Mile Creek Siding |

The area of the Tomah Sub between Lyndon Station and Mauston is a bit off the beaten path, as the ROW diverges from the parallel US 12/WIS-16. You have to take secondary roads to stay with the tracks, and I had never really done so until now. It's a rather scenic, secluded area, and I'll have to keep it in mind for future shots! |
