Album Info:Here is a six-page article by Mr. Charles Kerr, Jr., entitled "Locomotives Of The Future." It was published originally in the January 1943 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 28-33. "Steam, Diesel-electric, and straight electric will all have their place in the rail service of tomorrow." (Page 28) Alas, the "tomorrow" for the Iron Horse did not last very long!

Partial Caption: "Seventeen months before Pearl Harbor, the Pennsylvania Railroad ordered from the Baldwin Locomotive Works two experimental steam locomotives indicative of the shape of things to come." Shown here is PRR engine #6110, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built by Baldwin during April of 1942 and retired in December of 1953 after just 11 years of revenue service.
