Album Info:A duo of IC GP40R's in IC paint had found their way into the Kankakee Local back in early January, so I found myself driving the long drive out to Kankakee in search of them as a little pre birthday treat. Along with the IC's I grabbed some trains along both the joint line and even got lucky with one on the TPW.

Description:  For the past week or so a duo of IC GP40R rebuilds had been running the Kankakee Local. I decided as a pre-bithday treat to myself I would go out and follow them on their little trip south to the yard in Otto, IL and back. I got up early in the morning and made the long drive west from Ossian to Kankakee where I awaited the crews OD time. I was able to catch some other action as well. Almost as soon as I arrived at the Kankakee Amtrak Station, a northbound intermodal with 2 Tier 4 GEs passed.

Description:  I was informed that a KBS train was running to St. Anne today to drop off some cars for the UP, but upon my arrival in St. Anne, the train had already departed back for home base in Iroquois. So I settled for some joint line action. The signal was green for a northbound, and shortly after a northbound UP freight passed, here seen just to the north of town.

Description:  After the intermodal passed the Joint Line went back to being dead. I decided to go back to the CN to see what I could find. Low and behold I stumbled across the Gillman Local just north of Gillman and began racing north to shoot it at a couple places. More deathstar action? Absolutely.

Description:  I was not able to get into Clifton in time before the train got there, so I settled for this shot. As I pulled in to town I heard the TPW contact UP Dispatch to get a light across at Watseka, so back to Gilman I went!

Description:  I went down to Gillman and began following the TPW east. I ran into the train between Watseka and Crescent City. They hadnt made a lot of headway in the time it took to get down there from Watseka, which was fortunate for me. Todays train sported TPW 3440 and TPW 5015 and a bunch of cars for Incobrasa.

Description:  The train passes through Crescent City. In 1970, the town was decimated by a TPW bomb train which derailed and exploded, injuring 7 people at hospitalizing around 100. The town has since been rebuilt and is still continuing to grow.

Description:  I circlied back around town to check the CN for one last time before headin east. I found that the Gilman local had returned while I was shooting the TPW train. They must have spun the engine on the Otto Loop.

Description:  With the light waning, I began to trek east toward home. With a little light left, however, I spent a little time by the Joint Line yet again in Watseka when I noticed a clear signal for both a northbound and a southbound. The northbound was a CSX freight which I unfortunately missed while changing locations, but the southbound ended up being this UP oil train with a CP GEVO in the lead.
