We had gone out to Wal Mart late on Saturday afternoon. When we got up to Lake Frances Rd, I looked over to see a northbound coal train on the crossing, just cresting the hill from Watts. I could not see the power, but when we got up on the US 412 overpass, I could see it had not reached the crossing farther down on Lincoln. Maybe I can beat him. In a marvel of good timing, as we crossed the tracks, to the north was this soutbbound approaching. Oh, goody, I thought-a meet. This is the 262 approaching Lincoln Av crossing. The northbound was still sneaking up on us. That would be the real surprise. |

My wife does Bible study with a group of ladies on Thursday afternoons, so I take the opportunity to go after anything that shows up while shes out. Not five minutes after she left the house, I heard a horn, which sounded like a northbound. I got out, taking her Dodge Stratus R/T, and headed into town. As I reached Lake Frances Rd, I saw a southbound coal train rolling toward Watts. I made a quick U turn, and headed for Westville, working back toward Watts. I made it about two miles up, when I saw the train headed south. A quick turn around later, I shot him from the shoulder of US 59, and took off. |
