NS 4806
Title:  NS 4806
Description:  With adequate info enough to follow, I invited my buddy AJ from Dayton up north to my neck of the woods today to photograph the New Era Railroad. Midwest Rail recently purchased the Wabash Central off of RMW Ventures, and as of last November, the railroad has been undergoing some significant and much needed maintenance work and other restorations. Along with the change in ownership, the railroad also underwent a name change, now being called the "New Era" Railroad, signifying a "new era" for the former Cloverleaf. Despite all those changes, the motive power that the Wabash Central left behind is still currently being used on the railroad, and the railroad plans to continue to use the power until further notice. AJ got to my house fairly early and we began our day along NS around 8 AM. NS had some traffic to get through first. NS 262 crosses South Street with a AC44C6M just weeks out of the Wabtec facility in Texas on the front.

Title:  CNUR 7
Description:  Our hope was that the train was bringing outbound cars back to NS from Warren today. However, the plan was to take inbound cars to Warren instead, which would have the engine running long hood forward, something that AJ despises. Despite that, he said he wanted to shoot the railroad too badly to not at least chase for a little bit. So, thats what we did. Around 10 AM, a crew arrived and grabbed their Warren cars, along with some cars they would be taking to 20/20 molded plastics to switch out in town before continuing west. The New Era had recently just taken in two WEPX storage trains a few weeks prior to when we went on this trip, so as the engine grabs its cars off the main at Bond Street, it is surrounded by coal cars.

Description:  A nice bundle of new ties sits to the south of the tracks as the New Era creeps through Liberty Center. A truck that was going to my place of employment hit the crossbuck here about a year ago and it was never put back up until recently. It is still missing the sign, but at least it still has the lights. And, despite the fact that they dont work, it still is something that guards the crossing for old State Road 303.

Description:  However, the days work was not yet complete, as the crew was going to switch out a part of the other WEPX storage train in Warren. We were unsure if that was what the plan was at first, but thankfully our patience paid off, and we were finally going to get some shots of the engine short hood forward. The train creeps around the bend down from the Salamonie River in Warren.

Description:  I grabbed one more shot along the fenceline to a farm while AJ grabbed a shot behind me of some of the animals grazing in the pasture with the train. After this, we called our day on the New Era Railroad and went over to Ugaldes to grab some "lupper". He had a burger while I had a club sandwhich. After this, knowing we had some southbound traffic on NS, we decided to head back to Bluffton.

NS 4366 and NS 1169
Title:  NS 4366 and NS 1169
Description:  NS 197 was coming into town as we came into town. NS 57A was looking to open up behind NS 197 at the ethanol plant, so we decided to kill two birds with one stone and grab both trains at the south lead to the ethanol plant at CR 250E. After this, we headed home and went our separate ways as AJ had college finals to complete the following morning. Id say he really enjoyed his first time chasing the New Era. As for me, I never tire of shooting my favorite short line! It was a great day!
