CNW local at Kirmeyer  Contributor's Pick!
CNW GP38-2 4618 sits waiting for clearance to cross the Missouri River bridge and into Leavenworth. The location is shown on most maps as Stillings; the railroad called it Kirmeyer; in steam days the CGW had a two-stall enginehouse and wye here to turn its huge 2-10-4s, which wern't allowed any further west. When this picture was taken the CNW and BN still used the line; it was abandoned by both in 1987.
