| Two sets of light power wait on the Norfolk Southern BACK BELT for a route through East Bridge Junction. Both sets are probably headed to their respective yards at Avondale, at the west end of the Huey P. Long Bridge. SP MP15AC's 2702 and 2703 are returning from the Norfolk Southern's Oliver Yard, while MP 3291, UP 4277, MP 3125 and UP 3265 -- all SD40-2's -- are on their way back from the CSX's Gentilly Yard. SP 2702 and 2703 were the very first MP15AC units built by EMD, and the first dozen of these began their careers in south Louisiana. Although initially operated in cab-to-cab sets, nose-to-nose operation was later adopted. |
