Here is page 38 of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Shown here is the left portion of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1053, a D-8A (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during July of 1883 and retired in July of 1901 after just 18 years of revenue service. |
