Railfans if you are wondering why you are seeing blue on Norfolk Southern's Rail lines in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Georgia and in the northeast because that CSX Transportation and Conrail Merged together in 1999 CSX and Norfolk Southern agreed to share engines with Conrail Half of Conrail's Engines went to Norfolk Southern and half went to CSX the SD80MAC'S went to CSX numbered in the 800 series and to Norfolk Southern numbered in the 9000 series I saw Conrail units on the CSX as well the first Conrail unit I saw was a C36-7 in Conrail paint with CSX numbers and a Soo Line Wide Cab Caboose that was the first caboose i saw in 24 years since they retire the cabooses nationwide on all railroads.
