NS Southbound Local Freight Train A21 ( Birmingham to Wilton, Al. ) passing through Sparks Gap, Al. with a GP40-2 mother slug set for power. A21 was over tonnage on this day & stalled here at Sparks Gap, Al. the crew ended up securing their train & got a taxi to Wilton, Al. to get more power, thankfully it didnt cost me this shot, but it almost did, they 1st stalled in the shadows, but when they tried pulling the train again got them in the sun patch, thank goodness. Glad the shot worked out, sometimes they dont & I have to let out some frustrations.

Geneva Short General Glad it worked out for you this time...it's a great picture. On a hot summer day, though, I'd have left the engines in the shade if I were them! 8/30/2011 5:02:41 PM
William H. Davis Jr. General Thanks Geneva, When I left them they were crawling at a turtles pace, don't know if they wound up securing here or somewhere else, but I do know they stalled somewhere, because the dispatcher had talked to the crew of A21, said they stalled twice, so they may have stalled at another location, the crew wound up getting a taxi to Wilton, Al. for more power. 8/30/2011 5:07:53 PM
Bernie Feltman General They don't have enough power. Still, this is a beautiful photo, Mr. Henry 9/2/2011 9:21:46 PM
William H. Davis Jr. General Thanks Bernie, Only 1 unit here, the lead unit is just dead weight being a road slug with no prime mover 10/28/2011 3:29:48 AM
