Greg Smith General This train is either shoving into the CGW Boom Island facility or pulling back out so he can shove back to the GN Minneapolis depot 1/2/2012 10:42:50 PM
Greg Smith General BTW, I'm not real familiar with CGW passenger schedules, but it appears to be a morning shot. Looks like their might be some track guys out on the westbound. Nice shot! 1/2/2012 10:44:39 PM
Bernie Feltman General Nice photo, S 1/16/2012 6:31:32 PM
Tom Corless General I'm having trouble placing this. Might this actually be a train heading north (from Boom Island via Nicollet Island?) onto the current BNSF mainline before heading under Main Street on the St. Anthony side of the river? It resembles the mini bridge that still has track (tho not functional) that used to attach to the BNSF line just SW of Main Street 10/23/2012 4:34:05 PM
Tom Corless General S, maybe that is what you were saying but I was confused by "near the depot" as if you meant on the downtown side of the river. 10/23/2012 4:38:41 PM
S Kotnour General Its by Nicollete Island hotel. The bridge remains with no tracks. It lead to a large CGW yard and roundhouse on Boom Island in Mpls MN. The two mainlines are used today by BNSF to route trains on the wazata sub to Northtown at Harrison St. 10/23/2012 4:41:55 PM
S Kotnour General Ita directly across the Miss River from the Mpls Fed where the old GN main depot used to be... 10/23/2012 4:43:30 PM
Tom Corless General Got it. I misread and thout you meant the other side of the river where the old GN depot was, not the east channel. Thanks! 10/24/2012 2:39:22 PM
Tom Corless General By the way, great shot. Even though you can walk by and still see the bridge and the ties (no rail) it's hard to envision that bridge supporting a train. 10/24/2012 2:40:35 PM
