SOU SW9 1142
Southern Railway SW9 1142 at Atlanta, Georgia on March 24, 1984, Kodachrome by Paul Faulk, Chuck Zeiler collection. This was the first River Street Rambler (RSR), placed in RSR service in Savanna, Georgia during 1977 and replaced in 1983 by 2nd RSR (SOU SW1500 2311) which was replaced by 3rd RSR (SOU SW1500 2312). This unit was renumbered to 1733 (as was 2nd RSR), the year Savanna, Georgia was founded. One story has it that Dixieland jazz music played from the locomotive as it went about its chores.
