WAMX GP38 nos. 3812 and 3811 at the Santa Fe freight station         
WAMX GP38 nos. 3812 and 3811 rest outside of the old Santa Fe Salina, Kansas freight station. The station has now been demolished. The faded Santa Fe herald can be seen above the "Salina" designation.

Mark Dinkel General It surprised me when this depot was demolished. It literally was there one day and completely gone the next. I walk my dogs in this area and the Santa Fe freight station continued to be occupied by the Kansas and Oklahoma railroad (K&O) and was in fairly decent shape. Sure it needed some paint and maybe a new roof. The grain elevators in this area dominate the skyline of downtown Salina but have been vacant for a long time as grain storage has moved to the outskirts of the city. A wrecking ball is currently working on one elevator and may be moving to the others. 11/18/2013 7:55:33 AM
