California Zephyr 10-6 Sleeper interior public relations photograph. I had to guess at the date, the California Zephyr 10-Roomette - 6-Bedroom sleepers were built on Job 9660-019, 020, 021, ordered in October 1945, delivered between September and November 1948. I presumed that this photo was shot by Hedrich-Blessing Ltd. (the Burlington's PR firm) in Chicago, shortly after delivery. I also presumed this to be two of the 6-Bedrooms of a 10-6 sleeper. The CZ's observation cars also had two bedrooms that could be configured as pictured, but the curvature of the roof would have been opposite as seen here. On the back of the print, it is stamped: No. 4797 MASTER BEDROOM Master Bedroom on the California Zephyr is accomplished by opening partitions between two bedrooms, accommodating six passengers by day and providing four beds at night. I only see three beds, perhaps one bed was double occupancy. |
