Tom Beckett General Nicely framed shot of a typical BN consist of that time. Always good to get a distinctive model, in this case, the B30-7AB trailing unit. BN had 120 of them(the only buyer), but we didn't see them that often in the east. The train would go to the D&H at Buffalo to get to Jersey. By this time, CP was running the D&H, so a CP crew would put their own power on the train-I lived near Binghamton then, and don't recall ever seeing BN power coming east-and take it to Binghamton, where a NYSW crew would get on for the remainder of the trip to Jersey. It was train 254 on CP, and SLN 4 on NYSW. The CR routing for these trains was a result of the sale of the B&O's former Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburgh line from Butler PA to Buffalo, which had been part of the somewhat roundabout route to Chciago over CSX. This was much faster than the trip through Salamanca and Pittsburgh. 4/18/2015 2:02:40 AM
