Birmingham. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Birmingham, Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1966. Shown here is PRR engine #2253 and another unit whose number is not visible. #2253 is an EF-25 buit by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train through what was once the whistlestop at Birmingham ~ site of the Grier School for Girls, the Birmingham School for Girls before that, and the Mountain Female Seminary before that! |
