East Altoona. Here is the third of three original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, in the Winter of 1954. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #352, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in Juniata as an I-1S during November of 1918, rebuilt as an I-1SA in June of 1942, and retired in January of 1956 after 38 years of faithful service. In the center is HOMER Tower and the Westbound Classification Yard, to the right is the East Altoona Coaling Tipple. Photo taken from the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. |
