Kilkenny And The "Manitoba"  Contributor's Pick!
The building at right is a former Minneapolis & St. Louis structure from a community south of New Prague named Kilkenny. GSRM is now utilizing the building as their depot. At left is, believe it or not, a Pullman business car from 1880! But wait, there's more. This car, the "Manitoba", was used by none other than James J. Hill himself! The "Manitoba" eventually wound up as part of a home in Howard Lake, MN, until the Gopher State Railway museum rescued the car in 1998. The car interior still contains bunks despite being used as a home addition since being retired from rail service circa 1935. This gem cries out for shelter and full restoration. To donate, www.GSRM.org is the place to go, folks.
