Illuminated by the low winter sun, the Missouri Pacific’s connection to Southern Railway train No, 114 was descending the Huey P. Long Bridge. In a few minutes the train would stop at the east end of the bridge and a Southern crew would get on board. The train was powered by GP30 2557, GP35 2661, GP30 2554 and GP35 2713.
