PRR 9989, H-10S, #1 of 2, 1956         
Here is the first of two successive photos by John S. Fisher that were taken in Sandusky, Ohio, in November of 1956. Caption On Reverse: "PRR H-10 Consolidation at Sandusky. #5012 at left is a Santa Fe engine. Nov. 1956." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9989, an H-10S built in Juniata as Vandalia H-8C number "419" during February of 1912, rebuilt by Vandalia as H-8SC number "361" in September of 1916, renumbered PRR "8824" in 1917, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-10S in November of 1920, renumbered "9889" in 1951, later renumbered "9989," and retired in August of 1957 after 45 years of faithful service.

Robert Hess General In the history given for this locomotive in this and the next photo, No. 8824 was renumbered directly to No. 9989 in 1951. H10s No. 9889 was built in 1915 and retained that number until scrapped in October 1958. 5/16/2022 9:43:32 PM
