It appears that this Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) built 2-8-0 Consolidation #1208 is sitting in the dead/scrap line at Springfield after serving nearly 41 years. According to the Baldwin records, it was scrapped in May of 1948 so it was still waiting when Arthur B Johnson took this photo. Specs - coal burner, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine weight of 198,000 lb, tractive effort of 43,300 lb. |
