NJT 1314 on train 643  Contributor's Pick!
BUCKIN MONKEY UNITS MUTHABUCKA!! Vinnie Dellatorre hated these. That was the phrase he muttered whenever he saw MUs. NJT 1314 is on train 643 at Morristown, NJ 2/23/2023. The 1314 is on the lead of a three car set of Arrow IIIs. Once upon a time the Jersey arrows dominated the NEC, and Morris & Essex lines. Today they are on the endangered list as they were built by GE in 1977 and 1978. They were rebuilt by ABB between 1992 and 1995. Only one set showed up all day. A number of Arrows were damaged by Superstorm Sandy and were not considered to be worth enough to be fixed. There is also an order pending for Multilevel EMUs that will replace whats left. Note the little orange triangle on the conductors side that says 25K. That denotes that the 1314 is set up to run on NJTransits 25KV system, not on the 11KV system on Amtrak and the NEC. These cars can only run out of Hoboken on the Morris and Essex Line and the Gladstone Branch. It cannot serve in MidTown Direct service as it cannot operate on Amtrak
