TRB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Summerdale, Pennsylvania, c. 1962. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9655 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9655 is an EF-15A constructed as an EH-15 in February of 1950, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A, and retired in April of 1965 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B set is about to enter the Enola Yards with an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train. Visible at the right is a small portion of the Susquehanna River. |
