| Here is another photo diescrapancy - according to the ALCo records, MILW 326 was retired in June of 1953 but this photo is dated September of 1953 and looks to be ready to roll out on an assingment.There is another photo in this album of it sitting in the scrap line at Bensenville in June of 1953 so the photo is mismarked. Anyway, the loco was originally built as CM&StP 2-8-2 Mikado #8617 in September of 1918. In 1938 it was renumbered MILW 326 as it shows in this photo. After nearly 35 years of dedicated service, the loco was retired in june of 1953. Specs - L3 class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine wt of 320,000 lb and tractive effort of 62,949 lb. This is a Burns photo. |
