why do they call this unit a rod slug when it does not look like one?

A slug is any locomotive that has had it's diesel engine removed, and therefore runs off of electricity generated by the "mother" unit. On some roads (RF&P, Southern, N&W, SCL, to name a few), they will chop the body to look like what most people think of as slugs. CSX has chosen to leave the "body" in tact, I guess to add more weight on the traction motors. Sure am glad they did. I love seeing that GP30 profile!
