BN GP9 1970 |
Description: |
BN GP9 1970 at Kansas City, Missouri on an unknown day in April 1980, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in July 1954 as Chicago Burlington & Quincy GP9 285 (c/n 19624), and became BN 1970, and later BNSF 1633. In this photo it still has evidence of a steam generator in the short hood, and also two filler ports on the frame at the location of the tanks. There was a Mars Light located above the headlight (removed by the BN), which explains the lower position of the headlight on this locomotive. And, it shows a few of the axle journal options. |
