Description:
Here are pages nine and ten of a 14-page booklet entitled "When West Meets East." It was published by the Pennsylvania Railroad for distribution at the Golden Gate International Exposition that was held in San Francisco, California, during 1939-1940. At the left is PRR engine #4863, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1938 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. At the right is PRR engine 6100, the S-1 (6-4-4-6) built in Juniata during January of 1939 and retired in January of 1949.

Description:
Here is a photo by Mr. A.F. Sozio. It's on page six of a six-page camera study entitled "Pennsy Photo Section" that was published originally in the August 2001 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 41. Partial Caption: "Portia Mitaritono, an employee at PRR's Sunnyside Coach Yard in Long Island City, N.Y., cleans the running gear of a GG-1 electric locomotive in 1943." Partially visible in the background is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4863, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata in January of 1938 and rated at 4,620 horsepower.
