Description:  East Altoona. Here is an original 35mm color slide that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1948. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4314, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during November of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in December of 1942, and retired in September of 1959 after 37 years of faithful service. Photo taken from the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded.

Description:  ARB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Nelson Bowers that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 November 1952. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4314, #9821, and two more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. #4314 is an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during November of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in December of 1942, and retired in September of 1959. #9821 is an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in May of 1951, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1967. Partially visible at the left is a pair of Baldwin-built "Centipedes"; in the middle distance are the Coaling Tipple and the Roundhouse situated in East Altoona.
