Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 0-6-0 Class G-8 1729 at Leavenworth, Kansas on April 3, 1938, photograph by Truman Boyd, Louis Zadnichek collection via Robert W. Johnston. Number 1729 was built by Baldwin in March 1901 ( c/n 18795 ) as a 2-6-2 for the Hannibal & Saint Joseph as number 571, renumbered into the CB&Q system as 1729 ( Class R-2 ) in 1904, rebuilt in 1918 by the CB&Q to 0-6-0 Class G-8, retaining the 1729 road number, retired in December 1946.
