Description:  UP 5917 appearing again a half-hour later now as were out exploring Valley Junction and the large multi-wye/diamond (no one would believe it would exist in real life: a wye on every leg of a diamond so it looks like a giant symmetric box under suction (pulling in the sides - the arcing turn-out-to-turn-out points/switches that would permit every direction to be a reversing leg on all four tracks. The right divergent switch to the UPs current track is closer to the photographer & arches on the far side of the local Valley Junction silo (putting it in the middle of the curving track off to the right); easier to see than describe - my shotgun rider suggested drone picture... all well and good, except the breeze through this section of Texas seems to blow at a healthy 50 knots non-stop... unless the wind starts blowing, then its harder. So pick your favorite map site and view it from above - its Valley Junction, Texas, between Gause, TX and Hearne, TX. ).

Description:  On my way back from chasing UP 4014 to Denver, I stayed in Liberal Kan, hoping to get a shot of something on the bridge over the Cimarron River there. I stopped at Loves on US 54, catching this eastbound with 156 platforms as I was leaving. I gave chase, getting ahead of him by the bridge. A half hour goes by, no train. I knew there was a siding to the west, perhaps hes waiting for a westbound, which would be a plus. Finally, having to move on-I had 400 plus miles to home-I headed off, going back to check to see what happened to him. Turned out, they had him set off one of his two units at Liberal. I caught him just as he was getting underway.

Description:  Ive been here a number of times over the last 30 years, shot a train here once, in cruddy light. The conditions were better, would have been ideal if they hadnt set off the second unit at the last siding. Solo power leads 156 stack platforms across the viaduct.
