Description:  VANCOUVER WA Oct 2 1978 -- Retired and unserviceable Burlington Northern RS3 BN 4028 basks in the sun and awaits its fate at the engine facility. Alco delivered the unit as Northern Pacific 858 in 1955 with builder‚Äôs number 81155. In March 1970, with the creation of Burlington Northern, it became BN 4082. It was retired in August 1978. Ot was involved in a grade crossing accident while still in NP paint. It was repainted to BN colors but a court ordered the accident be re-created so it was painted back into Northern Pacific colors. It was sold on Aug 1 1978 to Joseph Simon and Sons, Tacoma WA, and scrapped. (Roster information from research.nphra.org and locophotos.com)

Description:  LONGVIEW WA May 22 1984 -- Columbia & Cowlitz C415 CLC 701 is coupled to a cut of cars at the Weyerhaeuser Company mill. Alco built the loco for C&C in 1868 with builder’s number 6018-01. It was retired in 1996. It reportedly went to Oregon Coast Express as OCEX 701 and to Mount Hood Railroad as 701.
