Although no location, date or photographer was listed, it appears that this loco may be in the Mt Clare yard in Baltimore, OH, where the ornate heavyweight passenger car to the left was stored. This 2-8-2 Mikado was built by Baldwin in April of 1921 as Baltimore & Ohio #4442. The solid locomotive served the B&O for nearly 35 years before being retired in November of 1956 at the Mt Clare, MD yard. Specs - class Q-4, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. An approximate date was used for thie photo. |
